Familypark history
The City of Heinola has collected feedback from its residents in spring 2020 regarding the wishes of children, young people and families for the city’s amenities and activities. The feedback particularly highlighted the traffic park and pumptrack and called for an area where people could enjoy themselves and with their families. Surveys were carried out in different areas, including the old bus station where the family park is located.
The asphalt lines in the traffic park were painted with the help of the trustees and officials. The fencing materials were donated by Versowood Oy and Heinola Levy ja Lista Oy. The fence was installed by the City Street Department and Työpaja Torppa.
In spring 2021, an asphalt painting competition was organised for Heinola schoolchildren on the theme of nature, flowers and animals. The winning class from each school got to paint their winning work in the traffic park itself.
